Abstract:

In today's educational landscape, the evolving perceptions of college students are shaped by a multitude of influences, necessitating a more sophisticated approach to civic education that incorporates bioethics and health education. This paper explores the integration of bioethical concepts into the civic education curriculum by first analyzing the division of life levels and their characteristics from a biological standpoint. By establishing a clear concept of bioethics, we propose a tailored educational framework designed to enrich the civic education of college students with a strong emphasis on ethical issues related to health and life sciences. Adopting the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach, we intertwine bioethics with civic education to develop a hybrid teaching model that embodies a trinity of bioethics, civic responsibilities, and health awareness. Furthermore, we establish a robust long-term mechanism for evaluating and continuously improving civic education, guided by results-oriented principles. Initial assessments demonstrate significant improvements in various dimensions of civic education: organizational leadership by 4.5 points, team building by 6.8 points, ideological theory by 7.1 points, and nurturing environment by 5.3 points. Notably, the integrated model has markedly enhanced college students' awareness of life perspectives by 14.2% and increased the cross-learning efficiency in civic education by 6.2%. This study offers an innovative pathway for modernizing civic education and suggests that integrating bioethics and health education can significantly enhance the effectiveness and relevance of civic education programs in higher education institutions. Doing so provides an effective strategy for preparing students to navigate complex ethical landscapes in their personal and professional lives, ultimately fostering a more ethically informed and health-conscious citizenry.
