Abstract:

The shift towards online education has become a defining feature of contemporary university learning environments. This paper presents the development of a unique, human health-centric online teaching platform tailored for university English courses. The platform, designed with a focus on students’ mental and physical well-being, integrates ergonomic principles and psychological health considerations into its framework. Key features include adaptive learning pathways, ergonomic user-interface design, interactive content that promotes mental engagement, and tools for monitoring and reducing digital eye strain and physical discomfort associated with prolonged screen time. The development process involved comprehensive research into ergonomic design, cognitive psychology, and educational technology. We integrated these insights to create an online learning environment that facilitates language acquisition and actively promotes a healthy learning experience. Students reported greater comfort, reduced fatigue during learning sessions, and improved language comprehension and engagement. These findings suggest that a health-centric approach in online education can significantly enhance the learning experience while also safeguarding student health and well-being. This study contributes to the emerging field of health-conscious online education, highlighting the importance of integrating human health considerations in the design of digital learning platforms. The development of this platform serves as a model for future educational technologies, advocating for a balanced approach that prioritizes student health alongside educational objectives, especially in disciplines demanding high cognitive engagement such as language learning.
